Securely Destroyed And Responsibly Recycled
IT Collect Melbourne and IT Collect Geelong are locally owned and operated and subsidiary of Victoria’s longest running and largest mobile document shredding company, Shred On Site. Shred On Site was established in 2014. We are a member of the National Association of Information Destruction – Australia and New Zealand chapter (NAID-ANZ). We are one of just a few companies in Victoria that is NAID AAA Certified – this means all processes, procedures and training of team members follow world’s best practice. These same standards are followed for the daily operations of IT Collect.
IT Collect began after a high level of demand from Shred On Site customers for a way to securely dispose of outdated e-waste items. There had been a number of incidents that highlighted the increasing danger of identity theft and the ease with which it can occur - and also coincided with the enactment of the Federal Government’s Privacy Amendment (Enhancement Privacy Protection) Act 2012 which commenced on the 12th March 2014. There had have been a number of articles in the news about how identity theft occurred because e-waste items were taken after being left at council transfer stations, out on the nature strip or with retailers who provided an e-waste collection service. Other news items included the wide-spread problem of e-waste items from Australia ending up in landfill in Africa and Asian countries such as Thailand and Vietnam. IT Collect service offering is designed to avoid these opportunities for the potential theft of your personal and business information.
Compliant Electronic Waste Destruction
The new Federal Government’s Privacy Amendment (Enhancement Privacy Protection) Act 2012 was enacted on the 12 March 2014. Australian businesses now need to know about the Act and how it applies to their industry and business type. Businesses need to comply with Australian Privacy Principle 11 (APP11); businesses need to take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify personal information if it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Directors/owners and senior managers of companies are responsible for what happens to private information from creation to destruction – even if destruction occurs somewhere AFTER it has left the business premises. The safest and most secure way to comply with this part of the Act is to use a service like IT Collect that provides a Certificate of Destruction confirming that the data storage components on your e-waste (e.g. hard drives, memory cards, chips) have been shredded and then responsibly recycled.
Approved Recycling Partners

We also ensure they hold relevant certifications for the collection, transportation and recycling of obsolete electronic items such as television, computer and telecommunication equipment as well as ferrous and non-ferrous metals. These certifications include Quality Management System SO9001, Environmental Management System ISO14001, Management of E-Waste AS/NZS 5377 Occupational Health and Safety Management System AS/NZS 4801.
Environmentally Conscious
We are committed to ensuring that all e-waste items are delivered to an approved supplier in Australia where they are disassembled, data components shredded, and remaining parts sent to approved downstream recyclers for treatment. We ensure your items are not shipped overseas to a poor third world country to end up in their landfill sites. Feedback from our recycling partners is that 92-95% of all e-waste is recycled.
